Sunflower (Helianthus annuus) is a plant of the genus Helianthus in the Asteraceae family. Also known as sunflower, sunflower, sunflower, and sunflower. It is named because the inflorescences rotate with the sun. The sunflower is believed to be native to North America. It is the national flower of Russia, Ukraine, Portugal, Peru, and Bolivia, and the city flower of Kitakyushu City in Japan. Sunflower is an annual herb. The stem is upright, round and angular, hard and covered with white coarse hairs. The broad ovate leaves are usually alternate, with sharp or acuminate apex, 3 veins at the base, coarsely serrated edges, rough hairs on both sides, and long stalks. The most common sunflower height is 2.5 to 3.5 meters. Flower head, 9.5-30 cm in diameter, solitary on the stem top or branch end. The involucral bracts are multi-layered, the leaves are arranged in imbricate shape, covered with long bristles, and there are neutral yellow tongue-shaped flowers on the edge of the inflorescence, which are not strong. The middle part of the inflorescence is a bisexual tubular flower, brown or purple, capable of fruiting. Rectangular oval achenes with lignified skin, gray or black, called sunflower seeds.
Sunflower seeds refer to the fruits (with shells) or seeds (after shelling) of sunflowers. The colors are black, white and brown, and most seeds are multi-colored.
