Theobromine CAS 83-67-0 Theobromine Anhydrous
Theobromine is a bitter-tasting alkaloid found in cacao beans, tea leaves, guarana, and cola nuts. It's also known as xantheose and is closely related to caffein*. Theobromine is extracted from cacao bean husks and is used in the production of caffein* and in various pharmaceutical products. It's also consumed in chocolate and cocoa beverages and other chocolate-based foods.

Research suggests theobromine may helpprotect the heart
in several ways. For starters, it naturally lowers blood pressure. This, in turn, decreases the risk of cardiovascular disease. There's also some evidence theobromine may reduce "bad" cholesterol and improve "good" cholesterol. Additionally, the substance may improve blood flow throughout the body, further supporting the heart.

Theobromine is a dimethylxanthine having the two methyl groups located at positions 3 and 7. A purine alkaloid derived from the cacao plant, it is found in chocolate, as well as in a number of other foods, and is a vasodilator, diuretic and heart stimulator. It has a role as an adenosine receptor antagonist, a food component, a plant metabolite, a human blood serum metabolite, a mouse metabolite, a vasodilator agent and a bronchodilator agent.
