Elderberry Extract
Elderberry Extract is derived from the fruit of the Sambucus nigra or Black Elder. As a part of a long tradition of herbal remedies and traditional folk medicines, the Black Elder tree is called "the medicine chest of the common people" and its flowers, berries, leaves, bark, and even roots have all been used for their healing properties for centuries.
Elderberry is a dark purple berry that grows on the European or black elder tree, also known as the Sambucus nigra plant. It is a rich source of antioxidants known as anthocyanins and is often used to support the immune system.
Description:
Elderberry has been used for centuries to treat wounds, which applied to the skin. It is also taken by mouth to treat respiratory illnesses such as cold and flu. In many countries, including Germany, elder flower is used to treat colds and flu. Some evidence suggests that chemicals in elder flower and berries may help reduce swelling in mucous membranes, such as the sinuses, and help relieve nasal congestion. Elderberry may have anti-inflammatory, antiviral, and anticancer properties.
Elderberry also contains flavonoids, which have antioxidant properties and may help prevent damage to the body's cells.
